The SAA&LC is the major element in the Marion Cultural Centre & GP+ precinct. With a 10 lane competition and dive pool/ water polo pools, the centre’s orientation to the North together with glazing along the main frontage, provides users with dramatic views into the pool hall and out from the main activity spaces. The pool halls are divided into the main event pool with 3,460 permanent grandstand seats and 476 permanent poolside seats together with the diving / water polo pool and 580 permanent seats. The leisure pool abuts the diving pool and contains leisure, learn‐to‐swim and a multipurpose programme pool all designed to open out to leisure gardens which form an important landscape feature along Milham Street. Beyond this the centre is designed for use not only as a world class competition venue but as a community centre for users of all ages and skills.
