As part of the Eureka Precinct, the 5,000-seat undercover grandstand redevelopment at Mars Stadium (formerly Eureka Stadium) will ensure Ballarat can host AFL football from 2017.
The design commenced with realigning the oval’s orientation to meet AFL requirements, laying an upgraded playing surface and adding new lighting. Other improvements will include upgraded change rooms, a new video and electronic scoreboard, better merchandise and food stalls, and universal-access amenities.
With a capacity of more than 11,000, the redeveloped stadium will not only ensure AFL games can come to Ballarat, but will also cater for international acts and tournaments, bringing events and revenue to the region.
