Heide Museum Of Modern Art

Bulleen, Melbourne, Australia

The outstanding collection of Australian modern art, which was housed in the Reid House, required additional exhibition and storage spaces to improve handling and display. In addition, space was needed for expansion of the collection and the display of works on loan from other museums and private collections. Peddle Thorp completed these expansion works, with the 'new' building functioning as a first class museum for the visual arts, adjacent to Reid House. The building incorporated varied requirements of display and lighting, and left itself capable of future expansion.
